As an organization, Tiny Footprints Society of Edmonton humbly acknowledges that we are grateful settlers in this land. We understand that this Territory has been a common one to many Original Peoples for thousands of years and for this reason, this place has many names, including the Homeland of the Métis, Métis Nation of Alberta Region No 4, Treaty 6 Territory, Amiskwaciy Waskahikan and more. We honour the diverse Indigenous Peoples who have called this land home for centuries, including the many generations of Indigenous midwives who helped families welcome and farewell their babies on this land. Through this land acknowledgment, we reflect on the impacts of colonialism, historically and currently, knowing that only through learning can we move forward in truth and reconciliation, towards a better future together.
