Lori-Ann’s Story
My name is Lori-Ann Huot, I have been married to my wonderful husband Rene for 29 years and I am a proud mother to 6 daughters; 4 daughters that I hold in my arms and 2 baby girls, Loren and Brooklynn, that I will forever hold in my heart.
We lost Loren in 1998 to a partial molar pregnancy and we lost Brooklynn (the twin to our youngest daughter) in 2002 after complications from a subchorionic hemorrhage. Our journey through the loss of our 2 angels changed the trajectory of my life in many ways. I made a commitment to find purpose in my pain and honour our girls’ legacies in any way I could.
One of the most meaningful ways I did this was co-founding the Angel Whispers Baby Loss Support Program in 2002, which I have had the honour of coordinating for the past 15 years. Angel Whispers offers hope, healing, compassion, and understanding to families devastated by the loss of a baby. Angel Whispers receives no funding, instead relies on donations, community partnerships and fundraisers like the Starry Night Gala to sustain our critical supports to heartbroken families. Thank you to Tiny Footprints for their continued support through the allocation of funds raised each year to Angel Whispers. Another meaningful way that I honour my girls’ legacies is through my involvement with Tiny Footprints as a committee member, volunteering my time to help make the Starry Night Gala a success. I have proudly been part of the Tiny Footprints team since the inaugural gala in 2022.
I will be retiring from Angel Whispers at the end of 2024 after 22 years at the helm of the program and will be passing the torch to a team of dedicated volunteers who each have journeyed through the loss of their babies and now want to give back to help others. I plan to still have involvement with Tiny Footprints and the Starry Night Gala because I believe wholeheartedly in this incredible cause and the difference they are making in the lives of bereaved families.
